A-League grand final 2016: Wanderers will bounce back next year, vows Scott Neville

To make it to a grand final is a great achievement but we're all just disappointed we didn't finish the job off."When asked what went wrong for the Wanderers, Neville said it was hard to specify - except that their first half was too far below their usual standards."We weren't sharp enough and we didn't play our normal game. They're a tough team to play against," he said. "They've got some quality players in there and I think we didn't nullify them well enough early on.

Sports Three grand finals in four years a testament to Wanderers wonderful culture, writes Robbie Slater

It doesn’t make Piovaccari a bad player, it just means he didn’t fit into what the Wanderers were building or the culture of the club. The Wanderers have Dimas and Andreu up against probably the best holding midfielder over the last couple of seasons in Isaias. There was no point in sticking him on the bench, so Popovic virtually got rid of him altogether. Popovic admitted early on that he made a mistake with his foreign marquee striker Federico Piovaccari .
