Sports Colorado State's Green vs. Gold game becomes D vs. O game

After the Green and Gold game at Hughes Stadium on Saturday, Colorado State coach Mike Bobo wryly admitted he feels better coming out of spring practice than he did a year ago after taking over the program from Jim McElwain."I probably might have seemed positive, but I didn't think we could win a game last year after spring," Bobo said, then laughed. "I thought we got better every day individually, I thought we got better as a football team."Spring games tend to be eye-of-the-beholder propositions.

Colorado State offensive linemen feel confident

Bobo then brought up offensive coordinator Will Friend, who handles the line, including the returning starters . center Jake Bennett, guard Fred Zerblis and tackles Zack Golditch and Nick Callender. Bobo confirmed that junior wide receiver Deionte Gaines is "not with the football team right now. ... It's an in-house matter right now. I'm not going to comment about it until I have a final statement." Gaines was held out of the Arizona Bowl because of academic issues.

Sports Chatfield's Ben Clarke returns to Colorado for Broncos' pro day

Former Broncos running back Monte Ball was arrested in Whitewater, Wis., for bail jumping Saturday night, according to the Walworth County Sheriff's Office. Ball was said to be drinking alcohol at a tavern, a violation of his bond conditions. Clarke, 6-foot-3 and 305 pounds, played his first two collegiate seasons at center before shifting to left tackle for the past two.
