Jon Keyser falls short in effort to make Colorado Senate primary ballot

Keyser paid $140,250 on petition signatures to political consulting firm Clear Creek Strategies through the end of March . The 16,067 signatures he submitted overall allowed him to clear the threshold in the six other districts. In 2012, Republican Eric Weissmann won a challenge to appear on the ballot after state officials ruled 614 of his signatures were invalid. Senate candidate Jon Keyser failed to collect enough signatures to earn a place on the June 28 primary ballot .

Keyser paid $140,250 on petition signatures to political consulting firm Clear Creek Strategies through the end of March . The 16,067 signatures he submitted overall allowed him to clear the threshold in the six other districts. He argued that clerical errors resulted in too many signatures being tossed and a judge agreed. Keyser fell short by 86 signatures in Colorado's 3rd Congressional District, according to Colorado's Secretary of State, which reviewed his petition.

Colorado Republican Senate primary is now "anyone's game"

"The next 60 to 90 days is about who puts together a campaign and starts running a professional organization."That the race remains this wide-open has fueled debate in Republican circles about one specific candidate, Jon Keyser, and whether the decorated combat veteran and former state lawmaker is falling short of expectations. It's also raised questions about how well the eventual winner will do against Bennet, who has $7.6 million in his campaign warchest.

Darryl Glenn looking for second upset in Senate race

Senate, upstart candidate Darryl Glenn had to overcome eight rivals . Glenn had $14,500, according to federal election records. And he'll still have to spend money to get out of the primary.Glenn's remaining Republican competitors are trying to "petition" their way on the ballot . That's not a lot of money for a statewide campaign, but it's still several times more than Glenn's $14,500.Blaha, Graham and Keyser entered the race late and haven't been required yet to file a fundraising report with the FEC.
